I did not take any pictures when I did it but I removed the Balance shafts in an evening after work. Paul Smith's site (turbovan.net) has a good section on how to do this. My personal addition to his information is that you don't need to cut all the way through the chain. Just grind 2 of the pins down to the surface of one link on the chain and then pop off that link and take apart the chain like a bicycle chain. I did notice a little more vibration at idle but cruising down the road I can't really tell. As far as performance, I really did not notice much improvement, but every little bit helps.
